Present
Sense is a unique community space in Wallingford that is available for
rent for classes, workshops, groups, and rehearsals. Renting at Present
Sense can be more than just writing a check for a space. The intention
behind everything we do here is to create vibrant, healthy community, and
that begins with the community of people who use this space for teaching
and events. We hold quarterly meetings for renters to get to know
each other and to contribute to building this special place for people
to learn and grow. We also plan community salons at Present Sense that
are run by renters. The vision of the space is to grow a community which
encourages creativity and awareness as natural human activities vital to
our individual and collective well-being.
The
space consists of two rooms, which are connected by an open doorway. The
small room holds groups up to 8-10 and the large room holds up to 16 -
20 people (more for performance-style seating.) There is a kitchen with
sink, fridge, microwave, and hot-water pot. The floors are painted concrete
(great for art classes) and there is lots of natural light from the large
windows and a very large skylight.

intervention is designed to proactively motivate, support and manage each
individual's unique circumstances and needs; finding the best treatment
facility and professionals, addressing the need and then providing referrals
for post treatment care. This will increase the likelihood of a successful
ongoing recovery.
It
is my objective to make it as comfortable as possible for all those participating,
to bring an end to this insidious disease of addiction and the part we
play unknowingly in it's existence.
I use
a variety of models with a high level of success. Roughly 95% of
the time people being intervened upon by me enter treatment. Most
families are sure that their loved one will not go but the reality is,
the overwhelming majority do enter treatment the day of the intervention.
The
training involves changing the dynamics of the family system. The
training is a must for a successful outcome. Ongoing coaching for
the intervention team members is an important component and is provided.
The
following is what one can expect from an intervention: First off,
a sense of relief for taking positive action; a safe and comfortable atmosphere
to express the motivation for healthy change; healthy communication and
support among all family members; a conscious shift to healthy family interactions;
a change from shame, blame, guilt, and low self-worth toward new beginnings
and choices; strict confidentiality throughout the intervention process.
Together
we can provide the addicted individual hope and healing. I've been
training and conducting interventions since 1979.

am available to provide individual or small-group meditation training.
Get individual support for your practice or bring a friend for a deeper
experience of the present moment with another person.
I teach
two types of meditation: mindfulness meditation and a visualization-based
meditation. Mindfulness meditation focuses on training your mind to be
gently and compassionately aware of the present moment. The visualization-based
meditation provides tools for understanding how you are using your energy,
becoming more conscious of healthy boundaries, and gaining access to all
your physical and spiritual abilities. Both are excellent ways to train
your brain to be more calm, clear, and resilient under stress.
I also
host free community mindfulness practice groups at Present Sense in Wallingford.
Groups meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 - 9:20 a.m.
There are also half-day Mindfulness Retreats throughout the year.
